Nintendo's first-half results show net profit falling 52%, because of a price cut on Wii game consoles, slumping sales and a stronger yen, and the company cuts its full-year profit forecast in the face of these factors.

Nintendo plans to release a large-screen version of its DSi hand-held game system in Japan, possibly by the end of the year, a Japanese news report says.

While Japanese investors cheered some relatively upbeat corporate results from the U.S. over the past couple weeks, they may find themselves disappointed as their own earnings season kicks into full gear in Tokyo.
