PHP Creator, World Class Developers and a Few Good Hackers Slated for February Miami Conference

Thirty top web developers from around the world will provide training and lectures on the latest developments and techniques in PHP programming at the first annual Sunshine PHP Conference (http://sunshinephp.com/) on February 8th and 9th at the Embassy Suites Miami International Hotel.

Among them will be Rasmus Lerdof, the man who created PHP in San Francisco in 1995, Fabien Potencier, founder of SensioLabs and creator of the Symfony PHP framework and Keith Casey of Twilio. The event features 30 training sessions and keynotes, as well as a “hackathon” sponsored by Mashery and an “unconference,” or unstructured series of talks.

PHP is an open source, server-side programming language that has increased in popularity as the driving force behind WordPress, as well as other leading content management systems. Boca Raton-based developer and conference founder Adam Culp has organized over 38 training events through his South Florida PHP Users group, often with partners like Revelex Corporation, 10Gen, Mashery and MoreDirect.

Lerdof kicks off the conference on February 8th with a keynote followed by a full day of training including, “PHPUnit Best Practices” with PHPUnit founder Sebastian Bergmann. Day two features “Cryptography for the Average Developer” with Anthony Ferrara, an applications architect at NBC Universal and part of the PHP core development team and “How Kris Writes Symfony Apps” with Kris Wallsmith, architect of OpenSky. Keith Casey will give closing remarks.

Leading technology companies have sponsored the conference, including SensioLabs, Windows Azure, ServerGrove, Twilio, Mashery, In2it, MySQL, Engine Yard, KnpUniversity, 10gen, Foxycart!, MoreDirect, New Relic, github, PhpStorm, TrueNorthPHP, Adobe, Web & PHP Magazine, PHPDeveloper.org, php|architect magazine, Sphero and O'Reilly.

This is the first year for the Sunshine PHP Conference, but it’s destined to become a leading annual event for developers from around the world. The conference is the brainchild of Adam Culp, a developer, trainer and speaker who also founded the South Florida PHP Users Group, which has over 360 members. Culp has over 12 years of website development experience and has organized over 38 training events in South Florida and has spoken at conferences across the United States. The Sunshine PHP Conference is a unique event because it’s the only one of its kind in the Southeastern United States.
