USATODAY.com Reports 12% Year-Over-Year Traffic Increase

Overall Page Views Increase 75%, Page Views per Person Up 55%

MCLEAN, Va., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- USATODAY.com had more than 11.9 million unique visitors in the month of April, a 12% year-over-year increase, according to Nielsen Online's combined Home/Work panel. Overall page views to the site increased 75% year-over-year, with individual page views per person going up 55% in the same time period.

The Travel section of USATODAY.com had the largest audience growth in April with a 79% year-over-year increase to more than 1.5 million visitors. USA TODAY's story on the 10-year anniversary of the Columbine shootings, listing of 10 great places on Earth, coverage of the suspected Craigslist killer and look at the "pickled" baby mammoth were some of the most viewed topics in the month of April.

Internal data reveals page view increases to USATODAY.com were driven by an increase in users sharing and consuming content via social media tools like Twitter and Yahoo Buzz. Additionally, an enhancement to the USATODAY.com search function has improved the onsite search experience, elevating user engagement and driving traffic.
