True School of Music Announces Professional Keyboard Classes

The True School of Music, India’s first comprehensive institute of contemporary music, now offers students a specialization in Keyboards, with its unique Pro Keyboard classes. Pro Keyboard classes are aimed at creating a versatile performer. The course enables students to learn different genres of music like Rock and Blues, Latin, R&B, Jazz and Funk that enable a musician to use these skills either in session or while on the stage. An understanding of these styles not only helps students in pursuing independent music but also commercial Bollywood and non-Bollywood music.

Julia Leggett, CEO, The True School of Music says “The True School of Music has always encouraged cross-discipline study to impart to our students a broader skill set and access to a wide range of opportunities within the music industry. In order to achieve this, we have divided all courses into individual study modules enabling students to study modules from other disciplines in parallel to completing the course of their choice.”

The courses can take in students at very basic levels and then progress them to more advance concepts and techniques over three distinct levels of learning.

These classes will help students understand technicalities of the instrument and apply these during performances. For example, Keyboard students will learn scales, posture and correct hand technique.

By the end of Level one a successful student should be able to; Play all Major and Minor triads, play all Major scales and Harmonic minor scales, interpret Lead sheets to be able to play with other musicians, play Left hand arpeggios with a right hand melody, play two handed triads and develop an appreciation of style.

Students will have the opportunity to play the keyboard parts for songs like “Let it Be” by the Beatles, “Lay, Lady, Lay” by Bob Dylan, “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis and “Sympathy for the Devil” by the Rolling Stones.

Lennart Altgenug mentors this course. He started to play classical piano when he was five years old. At the age of 16, he began to discover his love for Jazz and taught himself to play Boogie Woogie and Blues by listening to records of Pete Johnson, Jimmy Jancey, Albert Ammons and later Oscar Peterson. Very recently, Lenny recorded a CD with his own compositions featuring his Jazz Trio and a classical string quartet. He has been working as a piano teacher at the “Piano Academie” in Amsterdam teaching students of all ages.

Courses are taught during the weekday, evenings and weekends and are designed to be full time or fit around either work or additional study commitments.
